Delicious, fall off the bone ribs are one of my family's favorite meals. Oh, the joy of enjoying BBQ ribs year round!

I used to think that ribs were only for grilling. That the only way to get succulent, flavor infused ribs was to slowly cook them over the coals. That method is very labor intensive and time-consuming. My goal was to produce  great restaurant flavor, but at home in the oven.

Fool-Proof Fall Off The Bone Ribs!!

We've found that the absolute easiest way to make meat-falling-off-the-bones ribs is to slow bake them, covered, in the oven. Two to three hours at 300 F degrees makes the most succulent pork ribs. It's a super simple method that guarantees tender, moist ribs!

Ingredients Needed for Fall Off the Bone Ribs

  • Baby Back Pork Ribs – our favorite rib recipe! We buy ribs on sale in the vacuum packs and freeze until we're ready to bake them!
  • Barbecue Sauce – your favorite bottled sauce or try this homemade barbecue sauce recipe!
  • Brown Sugar – light or dark, both are fine.
  • Garlic Powder – adds savory garlic favor!
  • Paprika – adds sweet, earthy flavor!
  • Smokehouse Maple Seasoning (optional)

Chef's Tip! Remove The Membrane

For the most tender ribs, we remove the thin membrane from the back of the rack of ribs before cooking! To keep these ribs falling off the bone tender, that tough membrane has to go!

Some people prefer to leave the membrane intact, adding to the chewy bite of the ribs, others feel you MUST remove it to keep the ribs tender. Either way, these ribs are irresistibly delicious.

You could ask the butcher to do it for you, but if not, here's how to you do it:

To remove the membrane, carefully slide a knife under the membrane on the back of the ribs. Use your fingers to pull the membrane away from the bones. Tip: If it's slippery or hard to remove, use a paper towel to take hold of the loosened end and pull.

How to make the Best Ever Oven BBQ Ribs

The ingredients are simple. Just a full slab of Baby Back Pork Ribs, a bottle of your favorite BBQ Sauce, and the ingredients for the rub.

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 F Degrees.
  2. In small bowl, create a rub of 3/4 cup brown sugar, and 1 Tablespoon each of Garlic Powder, Paprika and Smokehouse Maple Seasoning
  3. Remove the tough membrane from the back of the ribs. The easiest way is to get one end started, grip with paper towel, and tear completely off.
  4. On a large baking pan, place the ribs on a large sheet of heavy duty foil, or two large sheets of regular foil. Using the rub, apply 1/2 to the meaty side, rubbing into the meat. Turn the meat over, meaty side down, and apply the other 1/2 of the rub to the bone side. Rub all over, including the sides.
  5. Place a second sheet of heavy duty foil on top of the ribs, and seal the top and bottom foil into a packet around the ribs. Place into preheated oven and bake for 2 hours, or until the meat is pulling away from the bone.
  6. Open up the foil and cut the ribs into serving size pieces. Cover one side of the ribs with BBQ Sauce and place uncovered back in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove the ribs from the oven, turn the ribs over on the baking pan, coat second side with BBQ Sauce and place uncovered back in the oven for a final 10 minutes.
  7. Plate the ribs with your favorite side dish and serve hot!
